Leiden, a Dutch Fairy Tale Town

Leiden, my home away from home, the Dutch city where I spent a year and a half of my life while I pursued my master’s degree at their university in the mid-2010s. To say that Leiden is charming would be a massive understatement. The reality is it’s like a fairytale town; everywhere you look is a picture-perfect photo waiting to be taken! The life I lived there was thoroughly Dutch – I had a Dutch bike with a basket, I lived with a Dutch cat in a Dutch flat in the city center, and I dined on Dutch cheese and bread nearly every day. I do miss the life I lived there, but as my mother has always said, it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all, and Leiden is very easy to love.
