Cologne

Cologne is one of Germany’s oldest cities, set along the Rhine River and known for its vibrant culture and history. Its most iconic landmark is the Cologne Cathedral. Set in the very heart of the city, the cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site and masterpiece of Gothic architecture that took over 600 years to complete. The city is all well-known for its Christmas markets, which are considered some of the best in all of Europe, particularly the one held beneath the cathedral. Not only was Cologne my first city to visit in Germany, but it was also my first introduction to European Christmas markets and boy were they a delight for both my Mother and I!
